Summary Top

Bergweide is the first developed industrial area in Deventer, which is a middle-seized town in The Netherlands ( 85.000 inhabitants). First industrial activities are from 1920-1950. The area measures 210 hectares (about 520.000 acres) with well over 400 registrated business-activities/industrial plants and more than 8.000 working people. Characteristic for the area are the harbour docks, which are of no more use for industrial activities. The main goal of the transformation and reorganization of the area is the (re) use of the water for industrial activities or other economic potentialities or even for housing and leisure. The ageing and losses of industrial activities also means pauperizing of the economic climate and decoration of this part of Deventer. The harbour also has a problem of pollution of the waterbottoms.
