Summary Top
To develop the banks of the "Amsterdam Rijnkanaal " for multifunctional sustainable use. Accents: the possibility to walk and cycle (without roundabouts); the development of the greenbelt for multifunctional use (e.g. playground); the development of a more interesting ecological green belt (e.g. plant life and animals); and important aspects are e.g. attainable and useful green, trees, social cohesion and safety
Objectives Top
The aim of the project is to enhance the functionality's of the water and the bank of the "Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal". This canal could develop into an important recreational and ecological link between the landscape Oud-Zuilen and Heemstede (Nieuwegein). Besides the canal has an important position in the cohesion between the "new" western edge (Leidsche Rijn) and the east side of the city. The creation of a transnational network will be useful for exchanging practices and to develop planning tools and joint strategies.
Outcomes Top
The project consists of several different small projects around the "Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal". The canal will become an important urban spatial development. Besides it will be an important ecological corridor in the urban area. The aim of the project is to enhance the recreational and ecological use of the "Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal".
