Summary Top
 
The project is meant to build a joint hydro-climatological GIS-based database for the transnational Mosel river basin (F, D, B, L). The gathered data will be statistically treated in order to detect any trends in the rainfall-runoff relationship in the basin over the last decades. Investigations will be made on the origin of the possible trends: land-use and/or climatic change. Hydrological models will be calibrated in various experimental catchments of the Mosel river basin. The model’s parameters will be regionalised in view of applying them to non-monitored basins of the study area and calculate runoff for these basins. Various climatic and land-use change scenarios will be elaborated and runoff generated according to these scenarios. The observed and calculated climatic and hydrological parameters will be mapped for past, present and future scenarios and presented in a hydro-climatological atlas of the Mosel river basin.
 
Objectives Top
 
The main objectives of the project consist in the followin: identification of trends in historical rainfall-runoff data throughout the Mosel river basin; modeling of land-use and climatic change scenarios; regionalisation of hydrological model parameters and development of easily transposable models; drawing of rainfall and runoff maps for past, present and future climatic and land-use scenarios; and elaboration of a hydro-climatological atlas of the Mosel river basin
 
Outcomes Top
 
The expected concrete results will consist in:- the elaboration of climatic and land-use change scenarios for the Mosel river basin. The modeling of runoff according to these scenarios: the drawing of rainfall and runoff maps according to the previously established scenarios; the identification of hydrological hazard producing areas and of hydrological risk exposed areas (drawing of hazard and risk maps for the Mosel river basin); and the elaboration of a GIS-based hydro-climatological atlas for past, present and future land-use and climatic scenarios.
