Summary Top
Walking and cycling together with access for the less able are identified as priority issues by British Central Government guidance. Norfolk County Council have produced county-wide strategies for walking/cycling. Strategies identified the need for individual studies of these modes (including access for the less able) to be undertaken for all Norfolk’s market towns.
Objectives Top
To encourage a modal change to more sustainable modes of transport in Norfolk’s market towns in preference to the car; to identify and develop walking and cycling networks which are appropriate to the town's character nature and infrastructure potential; and to promote and increase tourism to these town’s through modal change.
Outcomes Top
Identification of needs/facilities for walking, cycling and the less able; networks, strategies, proposals and action plans to encourage modal change to walking and cycling; increased use of walking/cycling for both domestic and leisure/tourist purposes; road safety improvements/enhancements for walkers, cyclists and the less able; and promotional materials and increased tourism opportunities.
