Summary Top

The project will involve identifying the needs of small towns across Europe and best practice in meeting these needs. The Development of demonstration projects related to the above, including capacity building and specific actions such as sector development. The Development of a standing network across Europe for small towns with links to other parts of the world. Holding conferences and working groups to share best practice. Establishment of an IT network for exchange of best practice. When the project itself is over, the networks will continue and, hopefully, expand to encompass an ever widening range of partners. A secretariat will be established centrally to administer the project, set up the physical network and develop the website. Each partnership area will also need its own staff.

Establish a network among country and coastal towns across Europe, utilising the latest information and communications technology. Capture and consolidate research, both European and international, that relates to best practice associated with the regeneration of country and coastal towns and contributes to addressing social exclusion issues Be proactive in best practice dissemination through the established network in order to aid capacity building among local community groups and partnerships. Maintain and enhance the network over time, to include new research, development and partner. Identify and establish a shared vision across the network of the role for country and coastal towns in the 21st century
