Summary Top

The project is part of the OPAL (Oostvaardersplassen Almere), that is initiated within the framework of a national programme to solve environmental problems in a restricted area in witch many parties are involved. The OPAL area has a number of special qualities in the field of ecology and nature3, recreational facilities and industrial area. OPAL is aimed at combining these functions into an overall programme and creating a win-win situation for all relevant parties. In the OPAL area a new industrial area will be developed. To prevent the industrial activities of using valuable drinking water and to much groundwater, a system of water pipes in the industrial area and open storage basins have to be build along de boundary of this area. The zone with water basins will also widen the distance between the industrial area and a very much valued ecological area and create a possibility to create a new landscape.
