Summary Top
 
The aim of the project is to establish a network of biodiversity record centres covering regions in North West Europe, in order to promote biodiversity through ecologically sound management of both urban and rural areas. The project will develop and implement best practice for the collection and collation of information. It will raise public awareness of biodiversity issues, by developing methodologies to encourage public participation. The project will map, describe and prepare sites and thence develop best practice for the management of the sites
 
Objectives Top
 
To develop strategies for the sustainable management of natural resources. To develop common principles and practice in the collection and collation of information relating to biodiversity. To promote biodiversity through ecologically sound management of urban and rural green spaces. To develop ecological networks within and across NWE to develop common principles and best practice for the conservation of natural landscapes.
 
Outcomes Top
 
A biodiversity network established. Common systems for the collection and collation and dissemination of information. Site management plans in place for key habitats based on best practice. Increase in the number of public, private and voluntary groups involved in the protection of natural resources. Increased public participation with biodiversity issues.
