Summary Top
 
The MPF2 project will provide concrete support to local projects complying with the principles of the final Declaration of the IIC Metrofringes project. To achieve this, it will: organise a transnational platform project between those involved in the development of these areas; provide technical and financial assistance for the design and implementation of integrated local projects; help pair methods and tools and foster efficient sharing of know-how; and promote this project by delivering them a quality label.
 
Objectives Top
 
The Interreg IIC Metrofringes has demonstrated that efficient management of urban fringes is an essential prerequisite to achieve the targets of indicated in the ESPD. It revealed planning and development principles and methods contributing to this sustainable development in the fringes areas: an integrated approach and a participative process; a balanced social and economic development, making best use of local resources; a metropolitan network of open spaces managed for lasting; a sustainable mobility encouraging the use of transport modes causing little nuisance and using little energy. The main objective of the project is to implement this transnational principles by initiating and supporting local integrated projects.
 
Outcomes Top
 
At metropolitan and local level: the project will set up integrated projects complying with the regional vision; trans-national engineering will induce innovation and exemplarity. At trans-national level, the project will instigate lasting partnerships between infra-regional areas in several European countries based on technical exchange, co-productions and joint promotion. At NOE level, the project will contribute to harmonise objectives and methods for planning and management of urban fringes and to build a joint spatial vision of the metropolitan region development.
