Summary Top

The Rotterdam Waterfront project contains a number of parallel studies for developing the tourist/recreational development potentials in the plan area in harmony with other functions, such as housing, employment and transport. The task is complex and ambitious. To make it more manageable the study area has been divided into a number of ‘corners’: Oude Haven and surroundings; Leuvehaven and surroundings; Entrepot area; Wilhelmina pier; and Boompjes. Business plans will be developed for each of these areas in close cooperation with the business community and institutes. The plans will contain a vision for the area, a SWOT analysis and concrete investment and implementation programmes. The binding element in the project the water will be assessed in a similar plan, indicating how the water and docks can best be used for passenger transport through product development and concentrations of activities.
