Summary
The Eindhoven, Leuven, Aachen Technology Triangle (ELAT) stands between three of NW Europe’s most important centres of population and economic activity: the Flemish urban network, the Ruhr valley and the Dutch Randstad. Stimulating innovation via trans-national co-operation across this area is therefore important for improving NW Europe’s wider competitiveness. The main objective of 3.9M euro ELAT project is to develop and implement a joint innovation strategy for the technology triangle, using ICT to involve knowledge institutes, businesses and public authorities in the technology triangle. The project, which is being led by Eindhoven regional government, will encourage knowledge institutes and businesses to work together to apply the combined knowledge they have developed in prototypes, 0-series and production equipment. The strategy will focus on technology clusters and mutually reinforcing combinations of technology such as ICT and healthcare. The goal of the joint innovation strategy is to make the ELAT area an internationally recognized top region for technology and improve the economic climate.

Objectives
The main objective of the project is to develop and implement a joint innovation strategy for the technology triangle by the knowledge institutes, the businesses, the national, regional and city authorities, especially trough the use of intensive and innovative ICT.
