‘Informatie-uitwisseling bij hoogwater, een Europese aanpak’

Van 13 t/m 15 mei 2008 vindt in Amsterdam de internationale slotconferentie plaats van het NOAH-project, met als thema ‘Informatie-uitwisseling bij dreigende overstromingen in Europa’.

Het NOAH-project ging in 2004 van start om de Europese samenwerking en informatie-uitwisseling bij dreigende overstromingen te verbeteren. Dit heeft geresulteerd in de bouw van een geavanceerd, internationaal bruikbaar hoogwater-informatiesysteem, FLIWAS (FLood Information & Warning System). Het systeem wordt in de projectperiode geïmplementeerd in pilotregio’s in Nederland, Duitsland en Ierland. Inmiddels hebben ook andere regio’s en een aantal Oost-Europese landen belangstelling getoond voor het gebruik van FLIWAS.
Voor de Taskforce Management Overstromingen is de ontwikkeling en implementatie van FLIWAS een belangrijk project als voorbereiding op de landelijke oefenweek ‘Waterproef’ in november 2008.
Het NOAH-project is ondergebracht bij de Stichting Toegepast Onderzoek Waterbeheer (STOWA) in Utrecht en wordt mede gefinancierd vanuit het Interreg IIIb programma van de Europese Unie.

Nature-oriented Flood Damage Prevention - Demonstrating Theory in Practice - nofdp end conference

Demonstrating theory in practice is the overall objective of this conference. The conference will present the key deliverables of a 4-years project. These innovative tools, instruments and Best Practice examples presented will support your project implementation and communication with decision makers and the general public in the field of nature-oriented flood damage prevention. The nofdp project will introduce its key deliverable. Key notes by policy makers and experts, interactive sessions and networking with project managers and decision makers from various European countries will complement the programme. Selected highlights of the programme are - 4 nofdp real world projects as Best Practice examples - The nofdp IDSS planning and communication software. A copy of the software will be distributed free of charge to the participants. - ecological modelling, potentials and limitation - How spatial planning is linked to ecology and water management in Northwest European countries – conclusions and recommendations for Best Practice - Improving transboundary cooperation and communication between Belgium and the Netherlands - Field visit and opening ceremony of the Zell Retention Reservoir (nofdp Best Practice example)
