Water ressources & the prevention of flood damage

This two day international workshop was a follow-up up to the successful first workshop on Flood Protection and Nature development  held in Wageningen in October 2002. It was hosted by the BBR in Bonn, the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning (Bundesamt für Bauwesen und Raumordnung). The aim was to generate new transnational water projects for the 4th & 5th call. 13 project promoters came from the Netherlands, 6 from Germany, 5 from the UK and one from Ireland.

Four new project ideas were identified during this workshop and further steps were agreed upon between partners. Further information on  these project ideas and contact details of the project partners can be found in the workshop's final report. The organisation of the workshop was also a good example of transnational cooperation bringing together British, German and Dutch representatives of various ministries, public institiutions involved in water management and who are in regular contact with the Secretariat .
